Supreme Court has ordered that from now on cinema halls have to play National Anthem before the screening of any movie. It also made clear that everyone should rise when National Anthem is being played and close all the exits at that time.
Supreme Court announced this on Tuesday. Judges said, “When the national anthem is played it is imperative for everyone to show honour and respect. It would instill a sense of committed patriotism and nationalism.”
They even mentioned that time has come that people should show respect to the national anthem. The orders clearly state that all exists in the theater would be closed while National Anthem is going on, which raised concern about emergencies.
Shyam Narayan Chouksey, who runs an NGO in Bhopal filed this petition in Supreme Court. Earlier in 1960’s National Anthem is used to be played in cinema halls, but at that time people used to walk away in the middle of National Anthem.
The court has also said that it would take 10 days max for this rule to be implemented completely. Now we have to see how the public is going to react to this decision.
